Easter Weekend

The “Sparrows vs Swallows” opening competitive event of the year on Good Friday attracted the largest field for many years and benefitted from benign conditions. The result was a 4-2 win for the transitory community (Swallows). Given the substantial margins of victory in their two wins, dissenting voices from the residents (Sparrows) suggested the result should be decided on a holes up basis but they were overruled by the competition secretary (who happened to be a Swallow).                                          The following day, the Ladies Easter Coffee morning was also well attended and raised over £400 for Alzheimer’s research, and was followed…

Results of the last two Saturday competitions. 5/3/16 Won by Tim Saddington with 40 Points, Bruce Turnbull with the same score but an inferior back nine was second and Stuart Archer third with 39 points. They all played early in the morning. Apologies for late announcement – the H&C Chairman’s computer went awry – he says! 12/3/16 This week the three winners were among the last two groups out. Making his first appearance of the year, Ben Galbraith scored 44 points to complete a close win from Bill Brook who signed for 42, but in fact had 43 points. Perhaps we’ll not see Ben for a while if he concludes that a long lay-off is the answer. Dan Taylor continuing his good run had 42 points. Having played with the H&C Chairman, Geoff Hulley surprisingly announced to all in the bar that he’d welcome the opportunity to play with Hugh Adair!.
